Please join us for a workshop making a heartfelt creation designed to raise awareness for MMIWG2S+ (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People). This pin features a red dress made from dyed sealskin. The edge is adorned with delicate red beads, adding a touch of elegance to this meaningful piece. Wear this pin proudly to show your support and solidarity for the MMIWG2S+ movement.
Our instructors for the day will be Tracy Alikamik and her aunt, Brenda Egotak. Tracy is an Inuit/Metis artist born and raised in treaty 6. She enjoys sewing with fabric and furs, carving rock and has recently started woodworking. Brenda Egotak (Unayak) was born in Ulukhaktok, NWT where she grew up then moved to Fort Smith for 20 years. She now lives in amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) teaching her traditional knowledge of language, sewing and growing up on the land.
