 Volunteer Roles

Many opportunities are available to volunteer at the Centre. For a description of each, click the role below.

  • We have been fortunate to have invited many elders to speak at our various cultural events and ceremonies. If you are an elder or know someone who would be interested, please feel free to reach out.

Examples of previous events we have held include our Tea and Bannock with an Elder, Solstice Celebration, and Stories by the Fire.

  • We are very appreciative of our arts and culture teachers, who share the beauty of Indigenous arts and culture with our community. Some of our classes have involved Indigenous beadwork, cooking, and drum-making. If you have a passion for Indigenous arts and culture and would like to teach a class, we would love to hear from you!

  • Volunteers support the overall delivery of arts and culture classes for small groups. Help with event setup and takedown, welcoming attendees, and ensuring smooth facilitation are essential. Volunteers also have the chance to participate in the class for free, learning about Indigenous arts and culture.

  • The host creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for visitors, providing information on various art pieces and answering other queries as needed.

  • Christmas Market volunteers help with a variety of tasks, including helping with event takedown and setup, answering customer and vendor questions, and wayfinding for market visitors.

  • Volunteers can help with a range of events, such as Solstice event to Stories by the Fire. Often, help is needed with creating a welcoming environment for speakers, signing in attendees, and event setup and takedown.

  • Administrative volunteer support the internal operations of Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre. Help is appreciated in areas such as social media, communications and marketing, file organization, and database administration.

  • Communications and marketing volunteers play a crucial role in building the digital presence for Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre. Support is needed in terms of email marketing, creating our newsletters, and optimizing our Facebook page.
