Part-time Program Coordinator

Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Society seeks a part-time Programs Coordinator.

Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Society is located in Spruce Grove, Alberta. We offer cultural and artistic programming to “Heal The Divide”. By this, we not only mean to increase understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members but also to heal the divide our young people feel between their authentic selves and the person society asks them to be. To do this, we engage the help of Elders, Knowledge and Language Keepers, and arts and crafts teachers, to offer learning opportunities to help people know their spirit by being creative and learning Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Our programs also help to retain and revitalize ancestral skills.

This position is part-time with the opportunity for additional hours during our larger events.

We are seeking an individual who can undertake the following:

• Program Coordination for events, workshops and activities.

• Attend events and meetings pertaining to the role

• Budget oversight

• Grant proposal preparation as needed

Required skills and attributes:

• Experience in programming in a non-profit environment

• Familiarity with Indigenous Cultures and community building

• The ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset.
