We are hiring!

Administrator / Project Lead

Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Society seeks a project lead for our Healing the Divide project funded through the Future Generations Foundation.

Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Society is located in Spruce Grove, Alberta. We offer cultural and artistic programming to “Heal The Divide”. By this, we not only mean to increase understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members but also to heal the divide our young people feel between their authentic selves and the person society asks them to be. To do this, we engage the help of Elders, Knowledge and Language Keepers, and arts and crafts teachers, to offer learning opportunities to help people know their spirit by being creative and learning Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Our programs also help to retain and revitalize ancestral skills.

This position is a part-time one-year contract with an opportunity for extension depending on funding.

We are seeking an individual who can undertake the following:

  • Oversee the project budget.

  • Project evaluation and reporting to Future Generations Foundation.

  • Applying for 2025-2026 funding to Future Generations Foundation according to our existing multi-year funding application requirements.

  • Expand on and initiate new partnerships in the community.

  • Plan and deliver programming collaboratively with the existing Program Director and Mistatim Program Coordinator.

  • Fund development.

  • Oversee website design and maintenance.

  • Strategic planning.

  • Regular reports to the board of directors.

  • Gallery coverage for existing Program Director (1 - 2 days per week maximum)

Required skills and attributes:

  • Connection to and lived experience with ceremony, Indigenous knowledge, and the Nations in Treaty 6, particularly Michel First Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, Alexander Cree Nation, Paul First Nation, and the Lac Ste Anne Métis.

  • Experience as a project lead or project administrator.

  • The ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset.

This is an Indigenous-led project and we welcome Indigenous contractors to this opportunity.
